Vivian M. Miller, 79, of Fayette, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Oelwein Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2014, at Becker-Milnes Funeral home in Fayette with Rev. Andy Sayer officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Vivian Marie, daughter of Harold and Marguerite Warnke Larson, was born February 22, 1935, at Oelwein, Iowa. She received her education in the Oelwein Public Schools. On August 3, 1952, she was united in marriage with Jesse R. “Dick” Miller at the Lutheran Church in Oelwein. The couple made their home in Oelwein prior to moving to Fayette. Vivian worked as a dietician and cook at Upper Iowa University and Maple Crest Manor in Fayette. She also worked at a grocery store in Fayette and Lucy’s Garden of Eatin’ Restaurant. Vivian enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, baking, bird watching, cats, watermelon, collecting fiber optic holiday ornaments and wind chimes, and most especially, loved having her family together.
Vivian is survived by her three children, Paul (Deb) Miller of Peosta, Cindy (Damon) Diehl of Stoughton, Wisconsin, and Rick Miller of Fayette; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four brothers, Larry “Red” Larson of Luana, Terry Larson of Hazelton, Junior (Connie) Larson, and Jim (Pat) Larson, both of Oelwein; one sister, Sandy (Tom) Kisner of Sumner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, who died December 14, 1999; her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
The family wishes to thank the Oelwein Health Care Center and Connie Larson for the wonderful care and attentiveness provided to Vivian during her last illness.
